Une exposition en deux partie, au Palais des Nations (ONU) et au CPG.
ACT OF STATE est la première histoire de l’occupation des territoires palestiniens par Israel en photographies. L’exposition conçue par Ariella Azoulay retrace deux histories: l’histoire politique des faits, synthétisés dans les légendes, et les différents styles photographiques témoignant d’une histoire culturelle.
Les 700 photographies prises par environs 50 photographes ne sont pas des illustrations mais plutôt des traces et des témoignages de faits historiques qui sont à reconstruire et à ré interroger. Pour rester au plus prêt d’un esprit de document, les photographies présentés sont simplement imprimé sur des feuilles A4 à partir de fichier digitaux, accompagné d’une légende et épinglées sur le mur. Un catalogue en italien édité par Bruno Mondadori en 2008 est à disposition.
