This one-day workshop offers an introduction to the conception of exhibitions, and intends to provide efficient working methods and concrete, applicable references. It is addressed to artists and photographers aiming to exhibit their own photographic work and start thinking about the form their project might take in the context of an exhibition, as well as other professionals interested in developing a curatorial practice.

The workshop will offer concise theoretical introductions to various themes, such as narration, scenography and the relationship to the audience, supported by case studies. These concepts will be put into practice in group exercises that will enable participants to work on notions such as photographic narrative and the materiality of images. The workshop will be rounded off with an overview of some notions of exhibition production.

This workshop is led by Danaé Panchaud, a museologist and curator specialising in contemporary photography, and director of Centre de la photographie Genève since 2022. Since 2012, she has curated over 50 exhibitions in a wide range of contexts, mainly in the fields of photography and contemporary art, but also in the applied arts and sciences.
