Les Sentiers analogues

25.11.2024

We are delighted to host a screening of the film ‘The Analogue Tracks’ (56 min.) by Florent Meng Lechevallier, followed by a conversation between the artist and Pascale Cassagnau, head of audiovisual and new media collections at the Centre national des arts plastiques (France).

Florent Meng Lechevallier's film project was motivated by the desire to ‘make a crystal speak and talk to a mountain’. Starting with the sampling of a Quartz in the Mont-Blanc massif, ‘The Analogue Tracks’ adopts a documentary approach and explores the open and experimental processes of possible ‘translation’ of this mineral. The investigation takes in specific points of view and timeframes in Europe and the United States, meeting people (crystal-makers, scientists, musicians, self-taught people, etc.), landscapes and texts, weaving together a multifaceted visual and petrolinguistic form of the crystalline stone.

The film is a co-production of Villa du Parc, Annemasse and Baldanders Films, with the support of the Nouveaux Mondes programme of the French Ministry of Culture, the Fonds cantonal d'art contemporain (Republic and Canton of Geneva) and the Centre de la photographie Genève.
