Nicole Tran Ba Vang is a visual artist whose photographic production is infused with the world of fashion. A designer by training from 1987 to 2000, she likes to conceive her series of photographs as fashion collections and makes it one of her preferred subjects. The body, the man and the female nude are also themes that she explores in her work, combining reality and fiction with freedom and fantasy. Through her work Re-member, Camille 1, Nicole Tran Ba Vang questions binary and non-binary gender constructions and new forms of society that allow the human species to (re)define itself. This work is integrated into a future fictional society that she describes as “egalitarian, without class, species, race or leader”. In this context, “Symbiosis” emerges, a way of life that merges human and non-human species.
